How to Plan a Bathroom Renovation

How to Plan a Bathroom Renovation

We’ve spoken to hundreds of visitors over the years, all of whom were at various stages in their bathroom renovation project. Throughout this time we’ve gathered a great range of tips and tricks to help them on their way, this guide will help you too…

Are you polishing, or starting from scratch?

There are various ways of achieving a new look, you might just want a simple update to transform your space, in which case you could repaint/ choose new accessories, or incorporate other fittings.

If you have less to work with, you might need to totally overhaul the space, move pipes and fixtures, or steal space from another room to extend the bathroom. The extent to which you renovate your bathroom will depend on budget and time.

Think about if you need to hire a professional

There are several trades involved in bathroom renovation, plumbers, builders, tilers, and electricians, amongst others. Whether you need all of them or none of them, depends on the extent of your project. If you’re thinking about some simple DIY you might be able to do this alone, but if you require anything more technical you should leave it to the professionals, they will also be able to help you with building restrictions, if you are completely remodelling.

Think about your timeline

The length of time it takes will depend on how much work you are doing, this can range from a couple of weeks to months if you working on a more complex project. If you have a second bathroom, a month-long project might not be too bad. But, if this is your only bathroom, it might be impossible to have your bathroom out of action for that period of time.

Plan your space

Once you’ve considered all the behind-the-scenes aspects, you can start to think about the aesthetic. You might want to visit a bathroom showroom to start planning this part. Bathroom showrooms can be really helpful as they allow you to see products in real life, meaning it’s easier to visualise how these might fit in your home.
